Some flights are about the view. Others are about the person sitting next to you, watching the world open up through a small window and quietly deciding what they want to do with their life. In August 2025, Benjamin S. booked a private sightseeing flight over New York City with his son, a young aviation enthusiast who dreams of becoming a pilot. What they came home with was more than photographs.
A morning that started on the ramp
Our flights leave from Linden Airport in New Jersey, a small general aviation field only minutes from Manhattan by air. There is no terminal crowd, no long walk to a gate. Guests meet their pilot beside the airplane, ask questions, look at the instruments, and take their time. For a child who already knows the difference between a wing and a stabilizer, that pre-flight moment is often as memorable as the flight itself.
Benjamin and his son flew in our Piper Cherokee PA-28, a fixed-wing airplane with high, wide windows on both sides. Because it is a small aircraft, the city feels close and human-scaled rather than distant. You are not looking down at a map. You are looking at neighborhoods, ferries, rooftops, and traffic moving across bridges.
In their own words
That last line is the one we keep coming back to. A tour can be beautiful and still be forgotten in a week. A tour that changes how a kid imagines his future is something else entirely.
What guests see from the airplane
The route follows the water, which is what makes the New York skyline so dramatic from the air. Guests take in the Statue of Liberty standing alone in the harbor, the towers of Lower Manhattan rising straight out of the shoreline, and the bridges stitching the boroughs together. Midtown appears as a dense ridge of buildings, with the parks and piers laid out clearly on either side.
Benjamin described it as surreal, and that word comes up often. Most people know these landmarks from photographs taken at street level. Seeing them from a few thousand feet, all at once, in their true relationship to the rivers and the coast, reorganizes the whole city in your mind.
Come see it for yourself
Our flights are private, which means the airplane is yours for the duration—no strangers, no shared headsets, and a pilot who is happy to answer questions the entire way. That matters for families, for photographers, and especially for young people who want to understand how the aircraft actually works.
Whether you are visiting New York for the first time, marking an occasion, or encouraging a future pilot the way Benjamin did, we would be glad to fly you. Departures are from Linden Airport, minutes from Manhattan, and the skyline is waiting.
