Lau A. Returns: A Second Azzurra Flight Over New York City

5-star review from Lau A. — Azzurra City Tours

Some views are worth seeing twice

There is a particular kind of guest we love welcoming back at Linden Airport: the one who has already seen Manhattan from the air, already knows what the skyline looks like when it slides past the window of a small airplane, and books again anyway. Lau A. is one of those guests. In August 2025, Lau returned for a second flight with Azzurra City Tours and left with the same verdict most repeat travelers reach: the second time is somehow better than the first.

Second time with Azzurra and it is even better than the first time! Getting to see New York from the sky is a privilege. Ash and Rafa are awesome. We will be back next year!

Why the second flight lands differently

The first flight is all discovery. You are taking in the sound of the engine, the feel of a light aircraft lifting off a quiet New Jersey runway, the strange thrill of watching the Manhattan grid resolve itself into something you can hold in one glance. There is a lot happening at once.

The second flight is different. Lau already knew the rhythm of the departure, already knew where to look and when. That familiarity frees you up. Instead of scrambling to orient yourself, you notice the small things: how the light sits on the water at a particular hour, how the bridges thread the East River, how much of the city you never really see from street level. Repeat guests almost always tell us they saw more the second time, not less.

What the flight looks like from the right seat

Our tours depart from Linden Airport in New Jersey, only minutes from Manhattan by air, in a Piper Cherokee PA-28 — a fixed-wing airplane with high windows and a steady, comfortable ride. It is a private flight, so the aircraft is yours and your group's alone. No headsets shared with strangers, no waiting your turn at a window.

From the air, the city arranges itself into something almost unreal. The Statue of Liberty stands alone in the harbor, small and unmistakable. The Manhattan skyline rises in layers, downtown towers stacked against Midtown, with the long green rectangle of Central Park cut into the middle of it all. Rivers frame everything. On a clear evening, the whole scene turns gold and then blue, and the city begins to switch its lights on beneath you.

Ash and Rafa

Lau named Ash and Rafa specifically, and that means a great deal to us. A skyline can impress anyone. What turns a good flight into a memorable one is the person flying it and the people who greet you at the hangar: someone calm, someone who points out what you would otherwise miss, someone who treats a first-time flyer's nerves with patience rather than routine. Guests remember how they were looked after long after the photos are filed away.

Come see it for yourself

Calling a flight over New York City "a privilege" is a generous way to put it, and it is also accurate. Very few people get to see this city the way it looks from a few thousand feet, in a small airplane, with the whole harbor spread out below.

Lau is planning to return next year. We will be here at Linden, ready with the Cherokee. If you have been thinking about seeing New York from the sky — for the first time or the second — we would be glad to fly you.
