Victor L.'s October Flight Over the NYC Skyline From Linden

5-star review from Victor L. — Azzurra City Tours

A Clear October Afternoon Over New York

October is one of those months pilots quietly look forward to. The summer haze lifts, the air turns crisp and stable, and the skyline sharpens into something almost architectural — every tower edge, every bridge cable, every ferry wake drawn in clean lines against the harbor. It was during that stretch of the year that Victor L. climbed into the right seat of our Piper Cherokee PA-28 at Linden Airport in New Jersey, just minutes from Manhattan, and lifted off toward the city.

He left us a five-star review afterward, and it captured the two things we care most about: that the flight felt easy and fun, and that he came home with the photos he wanted.

★★★★★
It was a super fun experience. The pilot was super skilled and chill. I really liked the whole experience and how helpful he was in positioning the airplane for us to take photos

Skilled and Chill

"Skilled and chill" might be the best two-word description of what we aim for. A private airplane tour is a technical operation — busy airspace, radio work, traffic advisories, precise altitudes — and all of that is happening constantly in the background. But the guest experience should feel relaxed. You should be looking out the window, not worrying about what's going on up front.

Victor noticed that balance, and it's the part we're proudest of. The calm in the cockpit isn't casualness; it's preparation. When a pilot knows the route, the airspace, and the airplane thoroughly, there's room left over to talk, to point things out, and to answer questions as the city slides past the window.

Flying for the Photo

The other thing Victor mentioned — positioning the airplane for photos — is something we think about on every single flight. A fixed-wing airplane gives you a high wing-free view through large side windows, and where the sun sits relative to the aircraft makes an enormous difference in what your camera actually captures. Glare, reflections, the angle of a bank, how long you hold a heading: all of it is adjustable.

So we adjust. If a guest wants the Statue of Liberty framed with Lower Manhattan behind it, we set up for that. If someone is shooting on a phone rather than a camera, we account for it. Asking for a second pass or a slightly different angle is not an inconvenience — it's the whole point of a private flight. Victor asked, and the airplane moved.

What You See From Up There

Departing Linden puts you over the water quickly. The Statue of Liberty appears below, small and green and unmistakable in a way she never quite is from the ground. Ellis Island sits nearby. Then the harbor opens up and Lower Manhattan rises — the Financial District stacked tight, One World Trade catching the light, bridges strung across the East River like stitching.

Further along, Midtown reveals itself in layers: the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, the long green rectangle of Central Park cut into the grid. From a few thousand feet, the city stops being a maze and becomes a map. Most guests go quiet for a moment when that shift happens.

Come Fly With Us

If you've been thinking about seeing New York from the air — for a birthday, an anniversary, a visiting friend, or simply because you've always wondered what it looks like from up there — we'd be glad to take you. It's a private airplane, so it's your flight, your questions, and your photo requests.

Thanks for flying with us, Victor. Blue skies.
