Some flights are memorable for the view. Others are memorable for who you share it with. For Amparo M., who flew with us in October 2021, it was both — because her dog came along for the ride.
It is one of the quieter joys of flying a small fixed-wing airplane rather than a crowded sightseeing machine. The cabin of a Piper Cherokee PA-28 is intimate by nature: a handful of seats, a headset for everyone, and a pilot close enough to point out landmarks without raising his voice. When a guest asks whether a well-behaved dog can join, the answer is often yes. It simply becomes part of the story.
It Starts Before the Engine Does
Amparo's experience began the way most of ours do — with questions. How long is the flight? What will we actually see? Where exactly is Linden Airport? Renato answered them all, and by the time she arrived at the field in New Jersey, minutes from Manhattan, the flight already felt familiar rather than intimidating.
— Amparo M.
That last line has stayed with us. "Vibing way up in the sky" is not language you find in a brochure, but it describes the feeling better than we ever could. A small airplane over open water at the right hour is a remarkably calm place to be.
What Unfolds Outside the Window
Departing Linden puts you over the water quickly. From there the geography of New York begins to arrange itself the way it does on a map — the harbor opening up, the Statue of Liberty standing alone on her island, Manhattan rising ahead in a single unbroken wall of towers. Guests often go quiet at that first sight of the skyline from the air. There is no need to narrate it.
What Renato does add, as Amparo noted, is context: the history behind a building, the way the boroughs stitch together, stories from years of flying these routes. It turns a view into a place. A skyline is impressive on its own, but knowing what you are looking at is what makes people remember the flight weeks later.
Private Means Private
Because our flights are private, the airplane belongs to your group for the duration. No strangers, no assigned seating, no rushing. That is what makes small requests — an extra loop, a pause over a particular neighborhood, a dog curled up in the back — possible in the first place. Flexibility is not a feature we advertise so much as a natural result of keeping things small.
It is also why guests describe the experience as peaceful rather than thrilling. A fixed-wing airplane flies smoothly and steadily. There is a rhythm to it that a lot of people do not expect until they are up there.
Come See It for Yourself
Whether you are marking an occasion, showing a visitor the city from an angle they have never seen, or simply curious what Manhattan looks like from a few thousand feet, the invitation is open. Bring your camera. Bring your questions. And if you have a good travel companion with four legs, ask — you would not be the first.
Thank you, Amparo, for flying with us, and for letting your dog log a few miles too.
